Design and build contract for the development of the courtyard of York House to accommodate a new two storey underground car park for around 80 cars.
Tony Gee was commissioned by contractor Norwest Holst to design the geotechnical and structural elements of the work.
The new car park is in close proximity to surrounding residential properties, including the seven-storey York House, and offices.
Top-down construction was employed to reduce the environmental impact on residents through concealment of the underground works.
The sheet pile wall was installed using a 'silent' hydraulic installation technique that obviated problems of noise and vibration.
