Following
on from the regeneration of east Thamesmead one area
remains undeveloped. Previously known as Tripcock Point,
after the promontory called Tripcock Ness, the Tamesis Point
development includes 14.4km of riverside frontage on the
South Bank of the Thames and anticipated space for 2,000 new
homes.
Tony Gee and Partners provided geotechnical input into the
Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) for the development.
The vast experience gained in the area over the last 15
years and the fact that we have record of over 150 boreholes
within the planning boundaries, made us the obvious choice
for the project.
The development is split into 12 phases and id due for completion in 2016. Tony Gee and Partners was
commissioned to carry out the site
investigation for the first phase of this development in 2003. We offered cost savings to our client Tilfen Land Limited, due our knowledge
of the area and availability of historical records. Phase 1 incorporates
residential housing and two bridges spanning the landscape canal
which runs through the area. One of the bridges also has adjacent
residential structures which provide 'over-water' homes with views across
to the wetlands conservation area and the nearby moats of the 'Twin-Tumps.' TGP
Ashford has undertaken the design of the bridge and
outline design for the associated residential blocks, pending planning permission.
This complete service from ground investigation to full design is the advantage of an integrated team of engineers at Tony Gee and Partners.
