This contract called for the design of new platform, associated track, building works and a subway.  A development of the existing station, the solution upgraded passenger facilities and considerably reduced conflicting train movements entering the station.  The new 300m long platform was built over the site of an old platform demolished many years before. Other services included a Transco gas main buried in the subway floor and high voltage electrical supplies.

A 16 person lift and staircase were required to provide access to the platform and its associated facilities.  The superstructure comprises a steel framed building with blockwork walls & extensive glazed elevations, all detailed to allow for the substantial electrical works associated with the retail and ticketing facilities, time table monitors and CCTV.
