The Environment Agency (EA) is currently engaged in a programme of replacing the existing timber lock gates on the Thames with steel gates.
Tony Gee and Partners was retained by the EA to carry out outline and detailed design, contract documentation and budget pricing of the new steel lock gates at Shepperton Lock, and to provide site supervision during construction.
The new steel gates were installed successfully in time to allow pleasure boats, official support and hospitality launches to pass through for the Oxford & Cambridge Boat Race
at the beginning of April.
The Shepperton scheme is one of 11 major navigation structure projects on the Thames this winter, totalling £5M of investment.
