The Drungewick Aqueduct was rebuilt as part of the restoration of the Wey and Arun Canal.
The new structure is a single 10m span carrying the canal and a bridle path over the River Lox.
Designed as integral with the abutments to eliminate the need for bearings, precast beams were incorporated to avoid the use of falsework in the river beneath.
The river is prone to flash flooding and hence the shape of the structure was determined to minimize obstruction to the flow.
