Advanced Composites

The foundation of Tony Gee's success was built on its expertise in the design and construction of new bridges. As the emphasis in many countries has switched to retaining and upgrading infrastructure, we have adapted and developed new approaches to structural strengthening by embracing modern FRP composite technology.

As one of the UK's leading experts in the field of external strengthening of structures, we are able to undertake any technically demanding commission.

The expansion of workload in this area resulted in Tony Gee setting up the Tony Gee Advanced Composites Group - a dedicated team serving the industry worldwide.

Is your bridge suitable?

Tony Gee offer clients a wide range of services applicable to the repair and strengthening of bridges.

A bridge requires an inspection and assessment to determine its condition and load carrying capacity. Tony Gee undertake this work, manage the testing programme and submit reports in our clients desired format. If strengthening is needed, FRP composites are considered together with a range of other suitable options.

If an engineer responsible for maintenance of a bridge has identified and quantified deficiency in strength, Tony Gee can advise if an FRP composite solution is feasible then suggest options for development of the detailed design and installation.

FRP Strengthening of Buildings

FRP materials can be used in several ways to assist architects, engineers, surveyors and contractors in upgrading existing buildings. Modifications to structures often require: -

  • Increases in Loading

  • Access holes through slab

  • Capacity restoration of defective elements

  • Capacity restoration of damaged structures
