HAECO Hanger is the third aircraft maintenance hangar at Hong Kong International Airport. The new facility will be able to accommodate simultaneously two wide-bodied aircraft and one nose-in aircraft to provide a total of three Boeing 747 sized aircraft maintenance positions.
Tony Gee was originally commissioned to carry out an independent check of the temporary works required to lift the steel roof.
After our checking work was completed the contractor decided to change the erection method for the roof. Tony Gee also carried out the design work for this new arrangement. This included detailed modelling of the new configuration of the roof in all erection conditions, and design for the temporary bracing and connections required to strengthen the roof.
