Prescott progress update

February 2008

Civil works at the Prescott Channel site in the River Lea are now well advanced. The tidal river channel has been widened, ground anchored training walls installed and cofferdams are in place for construction of lock island, gate chambers, the first fishbelly weir chamber and the by-pass channel for the fish pass.

Installation of the first set of lock gates and the first fishbelly gate will commence shortly in preparation for the initial phase of impoundment of the River Lea on behalf of British Waterways.

The £19m enabling works are being undertaken on behalf of a funding partnership which includes the Olympic Delivery Authority, London Thames Gateway Development Corporation, Department of Transport, Transport for London and British Waterways.
